2007 Performing Arts Touring


In 2007, the Performing Arts Touring Program targeted schools in the Hunter/Central Coast and North Coast regions. A number of Performing arts companies toured to these areas offering disadvantaged school students the opportunity to see their productions free of charge. The cost of travel to and from the venue was fully subsidised by the program.

The 2007, 21,000 primary and secondary students from the following regional centres, participated in the performing arts touring program: Bathurst, Newcastle, Gosford, Taree, Coffs Harbour, Lismore, Gunnedah, Muswellbrook, Tamworth, Grafton, Bingara, Glen Innes, Murwillumbah, Wollongong and Western Sydney.

Some of the State’s leading performance companies were selected to tour to regional and remote areas under the program.


The following productions toured in 2007 with support from the ConnectEd Arts program:

The Magic Flute – Oz Opera

The 7 Stages of Grieving – The Sydney Theatre Company

Pearlie in the Park – Monkey Baa Theatre for Young People

Lalaluna – Spoon Tree Productions

True Stories – Banagarra

Wilde Tales – State of Play (Critical Stages)

King Lear – Studio Co & Riverside theatres

The Club – Hit Productions

Memory of Water – Whoosh Productions (Critical Stages)

Messiah – Hosthouse Theatre

Macbeth – Bell Shakespeare?


Ticket Subsidies

The 2007 program also subsidised tickets for a number productions aimed at primary and secondary school students at the following venues:

Civic Theatre – Newcastle

Manning entertainment Centre – Taree

Jetty Theatre - Coffs Harbour

City Hall & Star Court Theatre – Lismore
