The 2006 ConnectEd Arts strategy targeted the Western NSW School Education Area, encompassing a broad area ranging from Lithgow in the East, Broken Hill in the West, and Lightning Ridge in the North. In addition to the core programs, 2006 saw the development of a number of special programs designed to assist artists and arts organisations to work more effectively with the school sector.
Participation in the ConnectEd Arts program has more than doubled over the last 12 months. The 2006 program targeted the Western Region of NSW with over 17,000 primary and secondary students and teachers from some of the state’s most remote schools involved in various elements of the strategy. Over 200 artists and arts organisations participated in professional development experience and engaged with the education sector through the program.
