In 2006, ConnectEd Arts has offered a new series of forums and workshops designed to assist artists and arts organisations to work more effectively with the school sector.
Program 1: The ‘How’ and ‘What’ of Working with Education
Date: Thursday 30 March 2006
This forum was divided into three parts. Part 1 will focussed on practical tools and methods for communicating more effectively with the school sector and took the form of a panel discussion. Part 2 attempted to decode the creative arts curriculum and will be presented by Department of Education & Training curriculum managers. Part 3 provided an opportunity for participants to think more creatively about their organisation’s programs and products and how they might be tailored to better attract school audiences. This program was designed for arts organisations wishing to better engage with the school sector, and was suitable for education managers, arts marketers and managers wishing to market their product to schools and/or increase their engagement with the school sector.
Program 2: The Artist in the Classroom: Panel Discussion
Date: Thursday 23 March 2006
Designed as an introduction to the issues which affect professional artists in the classroom. This forum was presented in the form of a panel discussion, four artists from each of the primary artforms (dance, theatre, visual arts and music) discussed their vast experience working as artists in schools.
Program 3: The Artist in the Classroom: Planning & Presenting Workshops in Schools
Date: Thursday 6 April 2006
Designed to assist artists and performers with the structure and planning of workshops for students at a primary and secondary school levels. This workshop included planning strategies as well as classroom management techniques.
